He urged both Republicans and Democrats to support the Senate-backed package, emphasizing the need for immediate action without further delays. The Senate recently passed a funding package to cover most federal agencies until September, along with a temporary measure for the Department of Homeland Security.
Despite Trump’s push, several conservative Republicans have expressed strong opposition to the deal and plan to vote against it. They argue that the package does not address their concerns, particularly regarding immigration enforcement policies. Trump, however, insists that no changes should be made to the legislation at this stage and warned against another prolonged shutdown.
The President referenced the record 43-day shutdown last summer, highlighting the potential damage another extended stoppage could cause. He stressed the importance of cooperation to avoid further harm to the country while addressing the issues raised by lawmakers.
